Audrey and John have both changed/ matured so much over the last few months as well. I started babysitting the middle of June, and Audrey is no longer the baby in the house at least from 8-5 Monday - Friday. She wasn't happy about the change in her status the 1st few weeks, but she has adjusted well. She is now willing to let someone help her other than mom, and shes even willing and excited to help with small task like fetching something from another room, or taking something to the trash, and helping unload the dryer.
I have also seen a big change in the way she plays. She is now very much into "pretend" play, and I think it's because she spends so much time playing with John and Tristan. She loves playing "McDonald's" where she wants you to order something and she pretends to make it and bring it to you and then expects you to pay her. She also likes to play "house" where she pretends to be the mommy one of the boys is the daddy and the other is a baby, and my is she ever bossy! It use to make me sad to see her growing so fast, and some days I still am. However, I am starting to enjoy having two older children who don't require 24 hour hands on supervision. As I mentioned earlier we are getting ready to celebrating John's 4th birthday. I can not believe that he's going to be 4 years old and that in just a months time he's going to start his 1st year of preschool. I have mixed emotions I don't know how it's possible that he's old enough to start preschool, I know that it's only for a few hours 3 days a week but it's the 1st time he will be away from me, in the care of someone else on a very regular basis.
As sad as it is, I'm actually looking forward to the break. It will give me a little time to try and catch up on things around the house that I normally don't get to do during the week with a house full of kids, and it will give me some time to devote to Audrey. I am confident that he is going to love going to preschool, and believe that he will thrive in the environment, as long as he can stay out of trouble. He is already such a smart little guy as I have mentioned many time before he's a whiz when it comes to puzzles, seriously it's unbelievable how good he is but you'd have to see it to believe it. We have also just started working on basic addition problems and even though we talk him through it it's amazing to see his mind working and see that's he's actually getting it. He is a busy guy always moving always thinking, and although it can be enough to drive me crazy most days, I can already see that his curiosity and drive are going to lead to one smart little boy.I love my babies so very much. There are days that they absolutely drive me crazy, between Audrey's whining, and John who is constantly moving, running, jumping, and whose tongue doesn't take a break from the moment he wakes til he's back to sleep, it's all I can do to get through some days. But sadly I was reminded this week how precious life is, and how it can be gone in a blink of an eye. A family in out area lost there healthy 4 year old little boy in a tragic accident this past weekend, and although I did not know the family it broke my heart and defiantly put thing in perspective for me. My children are my greatest gift from God, and I love them more than anyone else ever will, and even though we have are bad days I would take a thousand more over the thought of never having or God forbid ever losing one of them.
Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward.
