Happy 4th Birthday!

My moto lately is, better late than never! On August 12Th, my little boy, my 1st born turned 4 years old. This post is going to be different from most, because even though he can't yet read, and may not understand all I have to say at this point in his life, he will someday and I want to write this for him, so he'll know just how I felt.

Dear John,

Happy Birthday baby boy! I know you don't like when I call you that, I know you are not a baby any more, but the truth is you will always be my baby boy no matter how old or big you get. You where my 1st baby, the one who made me a mama, the one who opened my heart up to a world of emotions I didn't know existed. Everything with you is a first, each new stage of life is not only a 1st for you, but for me as well, and as exciting as it is at times I feel bad for you because we learn from our mistakes, and I too am learning along the way buddie. I just hope that not matter what mistakes I make along the way you NEVER doubt my love for you, and the joy that you bring me.

There is so much about you that I love, you are sweet, friendly, helpful, silly, smart, and handsome, you have the best smile, and your laugh well it's contagious. Since you have been able to get around on your own, you have been a busy body. But every now and again you squirm yourself into a position as close to me as you can get, and wait for me to acknowledge you, and when I do you'll flash your adorable smile with the little dimple on your left check. You stay just long enough to get a little snug in, enough to let me know you love me and need me or at least thats what I like to think and then your off again. You are also an excellent hugger, you love to give hugs and get very upset if you don't get one every time some one leaves the house whether it's myself, dad, or someone you just met. You also love to say hello to every one you see, shake their hands, and tell they your name your full name. You say " Hi! My name is John Anthony Wright. " I honestly think that greeting time during Sunday services is something you look forward to all week. You walk around with the biggest smile on your face shaking hands with anyone that will give you a moment.
You are a awesome big brother. I know having a little sister is not always easy, and you have your moments. Aside from those moments you watch out for her, play with her, and miss her when she's not around, and you my son are one of the only ones that can make her laugh. Audrey is a bit more sober than you have been and she may giggle, but she doesn't give the deep belly laugh all that often that we got so accustomed to with you. However, when it's just the two of you playing by yourselves it's not long before you have her in stitches, you must be one funny boy! You love to help out around the house. Whether it's helping mom pick up and put things away, cleaning your own room, or helping dad outside. That's not the complete truth, you don't mind helping mom out around the house, but you prefer to be outside with dad. You enjoy picking up sticks, helping dad trim, and sweeping off the sidewalks. Honestly, I think it has to do more with the company than the chores. You enjoy spending time with your dad, and I can't blame you every little boy needs his daddy. You are also one smart little boy. You are so eager to learn, and you do so very quickly. You amaze me on a regular basis with your memory, and your ability to do puzzles well beyond your age. You can write your first name, and know when your birthday is, you recognize your alphabet upper and lower case, and can count to a 100 ( with a little help with the tens). Recently we started working on addition, I was unsure if where ready but you have been so eager and with a little instruction are picking it up quickly. In just a few weeks you'll start your 1st year of preschool. I am so excited for you! You will make new friends, and learn new things I know you are going to love it, I just hope you'll miss me just a little. As exciting as it is, it makes me a little sad to be starting this new phase of our lives. It's hard and exciting for me to watch you grow from my sweet baby boy, into a little boy who needs me just a little less every day. As hard as it is to watch you grow, I look forward to what the the next year holds! There are so many more 1st to be had, and I hope to be a part of and celebrate with you each and every new accomplishment. I love you John Anthony, and I am proud and blessed to be your mommy.

Love you to infinity and beyond

XOXOXOXO

Blessings From The Lord

Wow..I really am having a hard time keeping up with this blog! Hope there are still a few of you who read even though I only sporadically post any more:) This summer has been busier than I could have ever guessed. I can't believe that It's already August, and that summer will soon be winding down. Well winding down may not be the best way to describe it, in the next 3 weeks we are going on our 1st family vacation to the beach..(WOOWHO!!!), celebrating John's 4th birthday, daddy's 30th, and our 5th anniversary. Yes, it's a busy month and I'm looking forward to every moment of it. The past few months have been just a crazy, with celebrating holidays, family and friends birthdays, visiting with out of town family, and just trying to squeeze in some summer fun.

Audrey and John have both changed/ matured so much over the last few months as well. I started babysitting the middle of June, and Audrey is no longer the baby in the house at least from 8-5 Monday - Friday. She wasn't happy about the change in her status the 1st few weeks, but she has adjusted well. She is now willing to let someone help her other than mom, and shes even willing and excited to help with small task like fetching something from another room, or taking something to the trash, and helping unload the dryer. I have also seen a big change in the way she plays. She is now very much into "pretend" play, and I think it's because she spends so much time playing with John and Tristan. She loves playing "McDonald's" where she wants you to order something and she pretends to make it and bring it to you and then expects you to pay her. She also likes to play "house" where she pretends to be the mommy one of the boys is the daddy and the other is a baby, and my is she ever bossy! It use to make me sad to see her growing so fast, and some days I still am. However, I am starting to enjoy having two older children who don't require 24 hour hands on supervision.

As I mentioned earlier we are getting ready to celebrating John's 4th birthday. I can not believe that he's going to be 4 years old and that in just a months time he's going to start his 1st year of preschool. I have mixed emotions I don't know how it's possible that he's old enough to start preschool, I know that it's only for a few hours 3 days a week but it's the 1st time he will be away from me, in the care of someone else on a very regular basis. As sad as it is, I'm actually looking forward to the break. It will give me a little time to try and catch up on things around the house that I normally don't get to do during the week with a house full of kids, and it will give me some time to devote to Audrey. I am confident that he is going to love going to preschool, and believe that he will thrive in the environment, as long as he can stay out of trouble. He is already such a smart little guy as I have mentioned many time before he's a whiz when it comes to puzzles, seriously it's unbelievable how good he is but you'd have to see it to believe it. We have also just started working on basic addition problems and even though we talk him through it it's amazing to see his mind working and see that's he's actually getting it. He is a busy guy always moving always thinking, and although it can be enough to drive me crazy most days, I can already see that his curiosity and drive are going to lead to one smart little boy.

I love my babies so very much. There are days that they absolutely drive me crazy, between Audrey's whining, and John who is constantly moving, running, jumping, and whose tongue doesn't take a break from the moment he wakes til he's back to sleep, it's all I can do to get through some days. But sadly I was reminded this week how precious life is, and how it can be gone in a blink of an eye. A family in out area lost there healthy 4 year old little boy in a tragic accident this past weekend, and although I did not know the family it broke my heart and defiantly put thing in perspective for me. My children are my greatest gift from God, and I love them more than anyone else ever will, and even though we have are bad days I would take a thousand more over the thought of never having or God forbid ever losing one of them.

Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward.
